Hi, everyone! As you may have guessed from my (very) long absence, I've been pretty busy. Nothing in particular, just life: travel, baby, moving, baby, Olympics, and work. Oh, and baby. In fact, the baby's gotten to be pretty demanding now that she's one and heading for toddlerhood.
That's why I've decided to take a break from doing custom work. Over the last few months, I've found even my drastically reduced schedule to be too much to handle. I've been feeling disorganized and chaotic and pressured, and I really don't like that.
Of course, I will be honoring my commitments for the rest of this year and next, I just won't be taking on any more new work for at least a while.
Instead, I'll be trying out new crafts and trying to realize a few ideas for paper crafts that I've had in mind for a while. I've always felt a little like a fraud in the craft business, having never been considered by anyone (including myself) to be at all creative prior to a few years ago. So I'm going to explore my new-found creativity a bit. Some of the new projects may end up in the shop, but most probably won't. I also hope to do a little more blogging around here, since a lot of the pressure will be off.
Maybe in a while I'll get back to doing custom work. Maybe not. Maybe I'll find a new craft venture to follow. Maybe I'll just be a mom for a bit. Maybe I'll become a mountaineer or a doctor or something. (Probably not.)
In any case, I've had a lot of fun working with brides over the last few years, and I'd love to return to it if that's what's right down the road. We'll see.
